Why we chose Longridge for our first scheme

A proper high street, good schools and the Forest of Bowland on the doorstep. What drew us to the town, and what we owe it in return.

Layers of hills fading into a hazy evening sky

When we started looking for our first site, we had a simple test: would we be happy living here ourselves? Longridge passed easily.

A real town centre

Berry Lane is the kind of high street many towns have lost, with independent butchers, bakers, cafés and pubs. That matters to us. We want our buyers to be able to walk to get a loaf of bread, not drive to a retail park.

Fells on the doorstep

Beacon Fell and the Forest of Bowland are minutes away, yet Preston, the M6 and the West Coast Main Line are close enough for an easy commute. It’s a rare balance.

Building in a place you love comes with a responsibility to add to it, not just take from it.

What we owe the town

At The Paddocks that means keeping the old hedgerows, planting a wildflower meadow at the entrance that’s open to everyone, building in brick and slate that sits comfortably alongside the town’s terraces, and using local trades wherever we can. Fourteen homes won’t change Longridge, but we want them to be fourteen homes the town is glad to have.
